Heresy Or Revolutionary? – StorOne’s DirectWrite Upending Data Storage
January 24, 2023What is Enterprise IT and Why Do I Care?
I asked an AI Chatbot, which is the in-vogue thing to do, what is Enterprise IT? I did this partly to break writer’s block and partly to see the collective internet’s answer. The AI engine spit out: “Enterprise IT covers a broad range of topics and tools, from systems management and security to networking and storage solutions. Enterprise IT provides businesses with the ability to store, manage, and protect data in a secure environment that meets the needs of their specific business requirements. This makes it an integral part of any organizations operations and can help them to stay competitive in today's ever-changing business landscape.” While the answer is broad and generic, which is expected, it doesn’t cover the essence of what we believe makes Enterprise IT and how we deliver IT through our Managed IT Services and Enterprise IaaS Cloud products.

What is Enterprise IT?
Enterprise IT is a competitive advantage. It provides the wielder deeper insights, better business agility, and higher productivity. Enterprise IT is also expensive, with many of the components having nosebleed prices and requiring many highly trained engineers to keep everything running properly.
How does a company without large IT budgets remain competitive with organizations that have access to Enterprise IT solutions? The common wisdom would be to leverage public cloud solutions. The promise of these solutions has been to provide access to robust global IT platforms on a pay by the drink model. Over time, public cloud alternatives have become more complex and costly. Less sophisticated companies jump into these public cloud platforms not understanding the ins and outs creating security vulnerabilities, complex cost structures and other similar issues leading to IT project failure. An alternative is to string together subscription software as a service (“SaaS”) solutions. While there are many fantastic SaaS applications in the market, too many SaaS applications can create data fragmentation and risk. Are these platforms backing up your data? Are they secure? How do you make these apps talk together? What if your provider has a disaster? The simplicity of these solutions to provision and get started glosses over SaaS applications being complex IT environments with the same set of issues found in an on-premises IT solutions.
How Does Virtual Sprout Deliver Enterprise IT
This brings us to Virtual Sprout and what we are built to solve. Virtual Sprout’s mission is to bring Enterprise IT to the Mid-Market. We do this by delivering comprehensive, but easy to procure and understand, subscriptions designed to deliver the same Enterprise IT platforms available to Fortune 1000 companies at a fraction of the cost. How do we deliver robust Enterprise IT solutions out of reach for most mid-market businesses? It isn’t a secret, but it isn’t easy. Let us walk you through how we provide these solutions.

1. Build a Global Network
Virtual Sprout has built a global network that spans three continents: North America, Europe, and Asia. The network is used to connect our data centers and our customers, providing reliable connectivity.
2. Build Our Own Enterprise IaaS Cloud
Public clouds are complex and difficult to keep secure and resilient. Further, we want our customers to have an easy to understand and predictable cost experience. As an alternative, we have built out our own cloud stacks in multiple markets (Ohio x 3, Nevada x 1, London x 1, Singapore x 1) using best of breed solutions from enterprise IT leaders like VMware, StorOne, Infinidat, Zerto, Dell, Sophos, and more. These clouds are highly resilient, incredibly performant, and designed to be securely partitioned amongst our customers.

3. Security First
The most important and commonly overlooked aspect of a well-built IT solution is security. Virtual Sprout’s solutions always start with security and can accommodate all major security frameworks. We started with some of the highest rated data centers in the world and then applied our suite of security products to ensure our customer’s data would be safe.
4. Bundle Solutions
Our customers don’t want to track of dozens of SKU’s, perform complex math, or figure out which pieces are most important to their organization. They want an always on, comprehensive, performant, and scalable IT platform with costs that match their growth. That is why they came to us in the first place! We have built turnkey all-inclusive bundles around our Managed IT Services, Managed Security Services, and Enterprise IaaS cloud solutions to make it easy to build a robust and secure Enterprise IT environment.

5. Attract the Best Engineers in the Business
The most difficult piece of the puzzle is finding the best people. Our cloud, network, security, and support engineers work 24/7 to make sure our managed IT services and IT solutions deliver constant value to our customers. Virtual Sprout associates live our key values of Commitment, Integrity, Humility, and Intelligence.
6. Own IT
The buck stops with us. We are the only provider in our segment that owns the platforms end-to-end, giving us the ultimate ability to deliver a fantastic product. Others choose to leverage public clouds and third-party networks to deliver their solutions. While that approach will sometimes work, it creates more risk than we want for our clients.
